Roughly one year after Democrats and the media attempted to destroy then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh with a politically motivated smear campaign, the embittered left is back for another try at ruining now-Justice Kavanaugh’s life and reputation with more baseless rumors and evidence-free innuendo of sexual misconduct that supposedly occurred several decades ago.
The political right stood in opposition to the left’s assault on Kavanaugh in 2018, and will do the same again, a stance made crystal clear by a series of tweets on Sunday from President Donald Trump in staunch defense of his second nominee to the high court.
Kavanaugh under attack again
The “new” allegation of misconduct by Kavanaugh sounds remarkably similar to one of the unproven accusations from 2018, in that a drunken college-aged Kavanaugh purportedly exposed himself and placed his genitalia near a female student at a party at Yale University.
But much like the first such claim, there is no corroboration of this latest account — which comes from a former President Clinton attorney who battled in the legal realm against Kavanaugh during the 1990s — and the supposed victim doesn’t even recall the alleged incident and has declined to speak publicly about it.
Nevertheless, in spite of conveniently omitted narrative-busting facts, Democrats and the media have mounted their high horses of sanctimony and are charging toward a partisan impeachment of Justice Kavanaugh with the goal of removing him from the Supreme Court — or at least placing an asterisk next to his name in the minds of the people and undermining the legitimacy of future court rulings.
Trump responds
President Trump is not standing idly by and watching that kind of disturbing saga play out again, and he took to Twitter multiple times on Sunday to fend off the flurry of attacks against the besieged jurist.
“Now the Radical Left Democrats and their Partner, the LameStream Media, are after Brett Kavanaugh again, talking loudly of their favorite word, impeachment. He is an innocent man who has been treated HORRIBLY. Such lies about him. They want to scare him into turning Liberal!” Trump tweeted.
A short time later, Trump wrote, “Brett Kavanaugh should start suing people for libel, or the Justice Department should come to his rescue. The lies being told about him are unbelievable. False Accusations without recrimination. When does it stop? They are trying to influence his opinions. Can’t let that happen!”
Just after that post, he added, “Can’t let Brett Kavanaugh give Radical Left Democrat (Liberal Plus) Opinions based on threats of Impeaching him over made up stories (sound familiar?), false allegations, and lies. This is the game they play. Fake and Corrupt News is working overtime! #ProtectKavanaugh”
Kavanaugh the real victim
The president did stop there, as he continued to discuss Kavanaugh on Monday, tweeting, “‘The New York Times walks back report on Kavanaugh assault claim.’ @foxandfriends The one who is actually being assaulted is Justice Kavanaugh — Assaulted by lies and Fake News! This is all about the LameStream Media working with their partner, the Dems.”
Trump offered a few more tweets Monday morning about Justice Kavanaugh and will undoubtedly continue to defend him for as long as the Democrats and their media allies continue their campaign against an innocent man and his family.
Unlike others before him, President Trump is a fighter who is willing to do battle with the powerful alliance on the left that seeks to destroy everything that stands in their way, This is among the primary reasons he was elected in 2016 and, given the way things are going, why he stands an increasingly strong chance of being re-elected in 2020.
