Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams ‘sick and tired’ of hearing about the ‘free market’

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

This is one Democrat who’s honest, at least, about her socialist ideals. While speaking on health care, the Democrat candidate for governor in Georgia, Stacey Abrams, admitted she was “sick and tired” of hearing the “free market” offered up as a “solution.”

At a town hall-style debate in Atlanta, Abrams insisted that “our fundamental responsibility is to take care of the least of these,” especially “working families who only want a little bit of access to health care.” To do that, of course, Abrams’ solution is to expand Medicaid.

Watch below:

“Sick and tired” of the free market

“I am sick and tired of hearing about the free market being the solution to this problem, because I’ve never seen the free market write a prescription in rural Georgia,” said Abrams.

“I mean, I’ve never seen the free market show up and give someone Metformin so they can have a little bit of control of their diabetes before it turns into an amputation of their foot,” she continued. “I’ve never seen the free market say ‘I’m going to replace that stent in your heart next door and not make you go 200 miles to get it done.'”

“The problem with the free market is the free market needs to make a profit, and there is no profit in doing the right thing,” added Abrams.

She’s got it all wrong

Unfortunately, Abrams has it all wrong. It is the profit-driven free market that is responsible for the plethora of CVS and Walgreens and other similar stores that allow rural Georgians to get their prescriptions filled.

It was the profit-driven free market that allowed for the innovation and necessary research and development for the creation of the drug Metformin or the heart stents that help people manage their diabetes or heart issues.

The problem with healthcare remaining unaffordable for many Americans isn’t caused by the free market at all, but rather by government intrusion into the market via over-regulation and excessive litigation that has caused great distortions and inflated costs in the market.

Won’t compromise

Abrams’ remarks about the free market didn’t sit well with the Republican Governors Association, as one might imagine. The Association’s communications director, Jon Thompson, said, “Stacey Abrams has already made a name for herself by embracing the radical far-left, but now she’s openly attacking the free market. What will she attack next, Democracy? She’s too extreme for Georgia.”

The Washington Free Beacon noted that the nominee’s utter rejection of the free market sounded similar to her blatant rejection of conservatives shortly after she won her party’s nomination. In an appearance on MSNBC, addressing the need to reach out to independent voters to win in a fairly red state, Abrams pronounced, “We don’t have to pivot to conservative values to win Georgia. We just have to speak about our own values and have bold and detailed plans about how we’re going to make it work.”

Trump: “Abrams will destroy the state”

President Donald Trump warned that choosing Abrams would “destroy the state” and endorsed her GOP opponent Brian Kemp in a tweet Wednesday morning, following the first televised debate between the two gubernatorial candidates.

Stacey Abrams has demonstrated repeatedly through her own words that she is a far-left progressive who rejects conservative ideals and the fundamental notion of free market capitalism. Georgia voters who cherish such ideals must make sure that their voices are heard on Election Day.
