Maxine Waters’ millennial voter event gets embarrassingly low turnout

Due to her vociferously outspoken opposition to President Donald Trump, Democrat California Rep. Maxine “Impeach 45!” Waters has been touted as a leader of the #Resistance movement on the left.

The 79-year-old congresswoman has also been heralded as some sort of guiding leader for new millennial voters on the left — even garnering the nickname “Auntie Maxine” — but that portrayal of Waters as an experienced and wise counselor of young liberals was recently exposed as a false narrative.

According to The Daily Caller, Waters held a “Meet & Greet Tweet-a-Thon” on June 3, just days ahead of California’s June 5 primary election day, at which she could rally her supporters.

The event was quite explicitly targeted at young millennial voters, but video of the event posted to social media by Waters herself revealed an astonishingly low turnout of not just the targeted demographic, but of supporters of all age groups.

As Waters regaled the small gathering with a typical campaign-style speech, the camera panned around and showed a rather sparse population of supporters at the event, with about half of those in attendance qualifying as members of the millennial generation.

Most of the millennials in attendance — perhaps 10 to 15 young people out of a couple dozen attendees total — ended up uncomfortably arrayed around the front of the room at one point. There they took turns having a microphone shoved in their face so they could speak about the issues they deemed as the most important to them.

But even at an event intended to highlight the voices and concerns of young millennial voters, Waters still kept the microphone mostly to herself and prattled on about how much she hated Trump.

She also racially smeared her chief Republican rival in the district, challenger Omar Navarro, as something of a traitor to his Latino heritage in that he was supportive of the president’s tough stance against illegal immigration and proposed border wall.

As if all individuals of Hispanic or Latino heritage must remain lockstep in some sort of racial group-think on the issues of illegal immigration and border security.

This should have been an incredibly embarrassing event for Waters, one she probably wouldn’t want anybody else to see, but since she has no shame she doesn’t care that we noticed hardly anybody turned out to her promoted event for millennial voters.
