In surprise move, Tucker Carlson praises Elizabeth Warren’s economic proposal

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

Fox News host Tucker Carlson has developed a somewhat cynical view of the politicians on Capitol Hill — and he’s not afraid to call them out, regardless of what side of the aisle they’re on.

Fed up with establishment Republicans who have let American companies take their business overseas, Carlson broke with his usual stance on the Democrat 2020 hopefuls and offered praise to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA) and her newly proposed economic plan, which Carlson said surprisingly resembles the so-called “America first” policies of Donald Trump.

Plan for patriotism

The primetime Fox News host began his segment this week by describing Warren’s recently revealed “Plan for Economic Patriotism,” a proposal centered on keeping American jobs in America to helping protect American workers in the ever-changing global economy.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunities America has given me. But the giant ‘American’ corporations who control our economy don’t seem to feel the same way,” Warren’s plan reads, according to the Daily Caller. “Sure, these companies wave the flag  — but they have no loyalty or allegiance to America.”

Her plan goes on to describe these companies’ “one real loyalty: to the short-term interests of their shareholders, a third of whom are foreign investors.”

According to Warren: “If they can close up American factories and ship jobs overseas to save a nickel, that’s exactly what they will do  — abandoning loyal American workers and hollowing out American cities along the way.”

She went on: “Politicians love to say they care about American jobs, but for decades those same politicians have cited ‘free market principles’ and refused to intervene in markets on behalf of American workers.”

Unexpected nationalism

If that sounded good to you, then you’re in the same boat as Carlson, who commented that Warren’s proposal sounds like President Donald Trump “at his best.”

He noted that Warren’s policy made no mention of leftist hot-button issues like identity politics, gun control, or radical environmentalism. Instead, the Massachusetts Democrat focused solely on things like buying American-made products, more vocational training instead of 4-year college degrees, and keeping the benefits of taxpayer-subsidized American innovation here in America.

“So who is this Elizabeth Warren, you ask? Not the race-hustling, gun-grabbing, abortion-extremist you thought you knew,” Carlson said. “Unfortunately, Elizabeth Warren is still all of those things, too, and that’s exactly the problem, not just with Elizabeth Warren, but with American politics.”

Untapped voters

Carlson lamented that there isn’t really anybody in Washington to speak on behalf of the majority of American people, as most politicians are “libertarian zealot[s] controlled by the banks” or “decadent trust fund socialist[s] who [want] to ban passenger cars and give Medicaid to illegal aliens.”

“There isn’t a caucus that represents where most Americans actually are: nationalist on economics, fairly traditional on the social issues,” Carlson said.

He went on: “Imagine a politician who wanted to make your health care cheaper, but wasn’t ghoulishly excited about partial birth abortion. Imagine someone who genuinely respected the nuclear family and sympathized with the culture of rural America, but at the same time was willing to take your side against rapacious credit card companies bleeding you dry at 35 percent interest.”

They’d win by a landslide, Carlson said. Take a look:

To be sure, Carlson isn’t about to vote for Warren, but his point stands — there is a dire need for more politicians whose views line up with the American people’s. Luckily, we have at least one in Washington — and he’s already in the White House.
