With the campaign season for the 2020 election cycle already heating up, President Donald Trump has begun to use his considerable influence to endorse certain candidates across the country he believes will prove helpful to furthering his agenda to Make America Great Again.
On Monday, that included Trump issuing a strong public endorsement of a young black conservative Republican running for the state attorney general position in Kentucky.
A rising star for the GOP
President Trump tweeted, “The Republican Party has a new STAR, his name is Daniel Cameron (@djaycameron), and he is running for Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
The president went on to list some of Cameron’s particular areas of interest before offering unqualified support for his candidacy.
….He is tough on Crime, Strong on Borders, and will fight for our Second Amendment. Daniel will never let you down. He has my Full and Complete Endorsement!

Expression of gratitude
The endorsement came on the heels of a meeting in the Oval Office, a photo of which was proudly shared on Twitter by Cameron, along with a picture of an autographed print-out of the president’s endorsement tweet.
Cameron tweeted sincere gratitude for the president’s vote of confidence, pledging his support for some of Trump’s signature agenda items.
Thank you @realDonaldTrump for your support and your endorsement. Iām honored to stand with you in fighting the drug epidemic and illegal immigration. #DC4AG #MAGA https://t.co/hbf6r86WfL pic.twitter.com/wkvKEbNwf2

Campaign boost
Cameron previously served as an attorney for the top member of Kentucky’s congressional delegation, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
His run for the state attorney general position in 2020 will see him face off against a Democrat candidate named Greg Stumbo, who previously served in the position from 2004 to 2008 prior to entering the private sector, only to now run for that position once again.
Cameron has already started highlighting the differences between himself and his Democratic opponent.
He emphasized that Stumbo is not pro-life, supports granting drivers licenses to illegal aliens residing in the state, and was a fervent supporter of failed nominee Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
An endorsement from the president for a young candidate is always a welcome thing, particularly in this case, as Trump won Kentucky by a huge margin in 2016 and continues to enjoy strong support among the state’s voters.
Hopefully, this endorsement will translate into a victory for Cameron in the next election.
