Shock report: Citizens arrested for violating orders, politicians go free

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

Everyone is tired of staying at home and some people actually need to make a living. But some people are getting arrested for violating stay-at-home orders while others are not.

The arrestees

Recently in Laredo Texas, two stylists were arrested by undercover police for providing salon services in their homes. The Laredo Police Department set up a sting using the COVID-19 task force enforcement to bring the violators to justice.

Apparently, two women offered salon services on social media, which a tipster then reported to the police. One of the women agreed to perform a manicure and the other agreed to extend eyelashes out of their homes to the undercover cops, thus violating the “Emergency Management Plan C/B.”

In Idaho, Sara Brady was arrested in Meridian at a park closed by the city. Anti-lockdown parents organized to go to the park as a protest of the ban.  She was charged with one count of misdemeanor trespassing after the police received several calls reporting the violation of the city’s ban on the use of playground equipment. A video of her arrest can be found here. Brady was charged for trespassing. It is unknown why she was the only person arrested.

In Charlotte, North Carolina, eight abortion protesters were arrested outside a Preferred Women’s Health Center. The protestors refused to disperse. They were then arrested for violating the ban on mass gatherings. Senator Ted Cruz weighed in tweeting the arrests were unconstitutional and designed to silence pro-life “pregnancy counselors.”

This is an unconstitutional arrest. @BenhamBrothers exercising core First Amendment rights. PEACEFULLY. In a way fully consistent w/ public safety. Because elected Dems are pro-abortion, they are abusing their power—in a one-sided way—to silence pregnancy counselors.”

In Malibu, California a paddleboarder was arrested for paddleboarding at a closed beach.

Those that get away with it

Beaumont, Texas mayor Becky Ames, needed a manicure and could not wait till the stay-at-home order was lifted in her town. She apologized saying,

“I should never have entered the salon last Tuesday. I did not intend to take personal privilege while asking others to sacrifice and for that I am truly remorseful. As an elected official I am held to a higher standard, I regret my action that day. I am honestly sorry and I pray that you will forgive me.”

She did get her nails done, though.

NYC mayor Bill DeBlasio violated the state stay-at-home order, driving 11 miles to take a walk, explaining that the walk at that particular place was necessary for him to be effective at his job.

Apparently, the mayor is more equal than others who also need to get out for a walk to be more effective.

Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot really, really needed a haircut. She has been the most visible promoter of the stay-at-home order in Chicago, so Chicagoans were surprised by a social media post of Lightfoot getting her hair cut and styled. Her stylist visited her home and wore PPE while performing the service for the mayor. When asked why she should be able to get her hair cut when other Chicagoans could not, she claimed special status as mayor, saying:

I am the public face of this city. I’m on national media and I’m out in the public eye. I take my personal hygiene very seriously. As I said, I felt like I needed to have a haircut. I’m not able to do that myself, so I got a haircut. You want to talk more about that?”

I am sure the majority of Chicagoans take their personal hygiene very seriously, but they will just have to wait for that visit to the barbershop or the salon. At least Mayor Becky Ames had the decency to apologize.
