Word emerged over the weekend that White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and her family had been asked to leave a restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, by the liberal owner simply because Sanders worked for President Donald Trump.
As hypocritically intolerant as that incident was in and of itself, it has now been revealed by Sanders’ father, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, that Sanders’ family endured further harassment by the liberal restaurant owner even after they’d left her establishment to go eat at another.
According to The Daily Wire, that revelation came from Huckabee during an interview with conservative commentator Laura Ingraham on her radio program Monday.
Huckabee stated that Sanders and her family had complied with the demand to exit the Red Hen restaurant, but when Sanders’ family went to another restaurant they were followed and harassed by the Red Hen’s owner.
This occurred even as the press secretary was no longer with the rest of her family and even as her in-laws are generally more liberal than conservative and not particularly fond of the president.
“There’s a part of that story that has not been told,” Huckabee told Ingraham. “Once Sarah and her family left — of course Sarah was asked to please vacate — Sarah and her husband just went home, they’d had enough.”
“But, the rest of her family went across the street to a different restaurant,” he continued. “The owner of the Red Hen — nobody’s told this — then followed them across the street, called people and organized a protest, yelling and screaming at them from outside the other restaurant and creating this scene.”
“One of the members of Sarah’s in-laws who were there — by the way, most of her in-laws, not her mother in-law and father in-law, but most of them are very liberal,” he shared.
“And, one of them walked out and said: ‘Look, I don’t like Trump. I’m not a supporter. I’m a far — considered liberal — but, you guys are embarrassing me and you’re not helping your cause,'” Huckabee related.
“This is what the Left has been reduced to — it’s really tragic. And, it is dangerous and that’s what I think people need to recognize,” he warned in conclusion.

It was bad enough that the anti-Trump restaurant owner had refused to serve Sanders and her family merely because of her association with Trump and position within the administration, but business owners do reserve the right to refuse service to anyone and the market will decide what sort of consequences she will face for her actions.
However, if she truly did follow Sanders’ family to another restaurant after they left her own and continued to harangue and protest them, that crosses a line of civility and warrants a firm rebuke by everyone across the political spectrum as targeted discrimination and harassment along ideological lines has no business in our society.
