Report: Sarah Sanders wants to resign, but can’t find new job

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

There is no love lost between White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the White House press corps, who routinely launch volley after volley of attacks against her and the administration — but it doesn’t look like the press pool has gotten rid of Sanders just yet.

According to a since-updated report, the press secretary is considering leaving the White House, but she allegedly can’t find a new position.

Sanders on her way out?

Framed as a bit of faux concern for Sanders’ future employability, a report from Yahoo News noted that White House adviser Stephen Miller has been seen defending the administration in the media more often than Sanders in recent weeks, perhaps meaning the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is on her way out.

The piece noted that Miller’s recent media appearances have come as the White House Communications Office had gone all but silent, and the daily or even weekly press briefings Sanders once held had seemingly been reduced to a monthly occurrence now.

But Sanders denied rumors that she was set to resign, telling Yahoo that she has been “traveling” and declining to answer further questions.

Anonymously-sourced rumors

Alongside the rumors that Sanders was planning to leave the administration by the end of the year were similar rumors about Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah, whose presence in the public eye has also appeared to have diminished in recent weeks and months.

Indeed, Yahoo had previously reported that Shah planned to resign shortly after Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was confirmed to the court — yet he still remains months later — and the outlet noted that Shah had changed his official title from “principal deputy press secretary” to “communications adviser.”

The report also cited an anonymous source who suggested that both Sanders and Shah planned to leave the White House at the same time.

False claims

An earlier version of the Yahoo report — which has since been updated and its claims surreptitiously removed — asserted that Shah had already lost his White House office and cell phone (a claim that has been retracted) and argued that both Sanders and Shah were “actively” trying to leave the administration but had “struggled” to find new jobs outside of the White House.

That version also cited an unnamed former official as saying that both Sanders and Shah were unable to find jobs as they’ve been branded as “serial liars,” and asserted that Sanders had been turned down by several companies she had supposedly interviewed with for a job.

But both versions of the Yahoo article are filled entirely with anonymous sources — all former White House officials — who mostly just bashed Miller and criticized the “haywire” White House communications office as a “zombie comms shop” that was understaffed and having trouble filling positions.

With that, it’s easy to say that while Sarah Sanders may very well eventually leave her position as White House press secretary, it doesn’t look like that will be happening any time soon.

Meanwhile, though all past administrations have experienced turnover like the Trump administration, the media is acting like each and every employment change in the White House is the signal that the end is nigh — and it is getting downright tiresome.
