Federal prosecutors cancel meeting with Stormy Daniels over leak concerns

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

Former adult film star Stormy Daniels — real name Stephanie Clifford, who allegedly had an affair with then-businessman Donald Trump over a dozen years ago — has been the darling of the anti-Trump liberal media for the past several months.

But it would seem that Daniels’ 15 minutes of fame are drawing near completion as the media has begun to lose interest in her — most Americans never cared in the first place — and now even federal prosecutors don’t much care to meet with her anymore.

According to The Associated Press, a meeting scheduled to take place on Monday between federal prosecutors in New York and Daniels — along with her publicity-hound attorney, Michael Avenatti — was canceled on Sunday after word of the meeting had been leaked to the media.

The meeting was thought to be in preparation for a possible grand jury appearance for Daniels in relation to the federal investigation of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, who is alleged to have paid Daniels $130,000 in exchange for her signing a non-disclosure agreement about the alleged affair.

The grand jury appearance had initially been scheduled for June 15, but that appearance had been canceled as well in exchange for Daniels’ voluntary agreement for the interview with prosecutors that was supposed to take place Monday.

Numerous media outlets learned ahead of time about the Monday meeting, knowledge of which caused concern among the prosecutors who wanted to avoid undue media attention, hence the abrupt cancellation at the last moment.

Avenatti rushed to Twitter to complain about the sudden cancellation and stated that he had offered to reschedule the meeting with prosecutors, to no avail.

“We believe canceling the meeting because the press has now caught wind of it is ridiculous. We do not think it was any secret that at some point you were going to meet with my client,” wrote Avenatti in an email to Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicolas Roos.

But Roos responded with the assertion that Avenatti had leaked details of the meeting — a charge Avenatti proclaimed as “patently false” — and questioned Avenatti’s “commitment to maintaining the required confidentiality” of what would be discussed during the meeting.

“Such confidentiality is critical to the diligence, fairness, and integrity of this, and indeed all, investigations conducted by this Office. This is not our preferred approach, and a step we are only rarely forced to take, but we are left with no choice,” wrote Roos.

Stormy Daniels and her attorney Avenatti were at one point the faces of the anti-Trump resistance that nobody on the left could get enough of, but it would appear that a bit of the luster has worn off, perhaps due to the media’s complete over-saturation of the news cycle with all things Stormy Daniels.

It is even more obvious now than it was several months ago that Daniels and Avenatti are desperate for media attention, but the same doesn’t hold true for the federal prosecutors who didn’t appreciate that word of their scheduled meeting with Daniels had been leaked to the media, most likely by Avenatti, and called the whole thing off.
