President Trump temporarily suspends immigration

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

President Trump announced that he will be signing an executive order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States due to the “invisible enemy,” the Covid-19 virus. He also cited the need to protect the jobs of Americans.

The reaction was swift. Democrats such as Kamala Harris denounced the move as opportunistic, accusing the president of using the coronavirus to advance his “anti-immigration” agenda, while Republicans praised the order as pro-American and the safe thing to do.

It is interesting that the Democrats are advocating for extended lockdown for Americans while also advocating continued migration and movement into the country.

The president previously invoked emergency powers earlier this month to stop border crossings along the southern border, citing the dangers of detaining people amid the coronavirus crisis in the US. The US has the highest number of cases of any country with almost 800,000 reported cases and more than 42,000 deaths.

This new order also augments steps the president has taken to stop travel from China and European countries as COVID-19 became a pandemic.

7.1 billion live under border restrictions

Listening to Democrats, one would think the US is the only country imposing strict regulation of border crossings and immigration, but according to a report from the Pew Research Center, more than 90% of the world’s population is living under strict border controls.

At least nine-tenths (91%) of the world’s population, or 7.1 billion people, lives in countries with restrictions on people arriving from other countries who are neither citizens nor residents, such as tourists, business travelers and new immigrants. Roughly 3 billion people, or 39%, live in countries with borders completely closed to noncitizens and nonresidents, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of border closure announcements and United Nations population data.

China completely closed its borders on March 28th, but there were no articles written about that country being inherently racist for doing so. In the Democrats world, when nations other than the US move to close their borders to control the coronavirus, it is considered wise. When the US moves to close its borders, it is racist.

It’s a good thing we’re living in Trump’s world, not the Democrats.
