Hillary Clinton insists Bill’s affair with White House intern was not an abuse of power

As the #MeToo movement featuring women speaking out against powerful men who’ve allegedly abused and harassed them sexually continues apace, failed Democrat presidential nominee and supposed feminist icon Hillary Clinton has found herself in a position quite counter to that of the feminist-led movement.

Clinton was recently asked on CBS “Sunday Morning” about the infamous sexual scandal involving her husband, former President Bill Clinton, and then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Clinton hypocritically insisted that illicit affair was not an “abuse of power” because Lewinsky “was an adult,” and insisted her husband was correct in refusing to resign amid the scandal.

Writing for the U.K. Daily Mail, Piers Morgan blasted Clinton for her utter hypocrisy. By dismissing her husband’s victims, Hillary completely undermines the #MeToo movement, which is largely focused on those in powerful positions who use sexual assault and harassment to coerce and manipulate vulnerable women … such as a president and a lowly intern.

What if it had been Trump?

Morgan laid out many of the details of the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal, wondering what would happen if President Donald Trump was in Clinton’s place.

He accurately noted that, were Trump to do the exact same things his predecessor had done in the Oval Office with an intern, the mainstream media, liberal feminists, and Hillary Clinton alike would be absolutely incensed.

Indeed, Clinton and many others like her would excoriate Trump for abusing his power by sexually manipulating a young intern, and would no doubt demand he resign from office and slink away in disgrace, if not face criminal charges.

Utter hypocrisy

Except it wasn’t Trump who took advantage of a young and naive intern in the Oval Office — and then lied about it to the American public — but Bill Clinton instead.

And now Hillary wants to dismiss that scandalous incident as no big deal — because Lewinsky was “an adult” and knew what she was doing at the time.

Morgan rightly pointed out that, were Clinton’s assertion true that what happened to Lewinsky wasn’t an “abuse of power” because she was an adult, the entire foundation of the #MeToo movement would be destroyed. Nearly all of the victims who have spoken out against their powerful abusers were adults at the time of the alleged abuse as well.

“By saying that what her husband did to Monica Lewinsky was not an abuse of power, Hillary Clinton confirmed she’s not a feminist — she’s a self-serving, self-righteous, sanctimonious and shameless hypocrite,” concluded Morgan.

Piers Morgan is absolutely correct in presuming that, were Trump to do the same thing with a White House intern that Bill Clinton did, Hillary would be at the forefront of the pitchfork and torch-wielding mob demanding Trump’s head on a platter.

Instead, it was her own husband who did terrible things to vulnerable women, and rather than stand in defense of “all women” — as the feminist left constantly exhorts us all to do — Hillary is still dismissing her husband’s victims as not really being victims. In essence, she has forfeited her right to say anything further on the #MeToo matter.
