Hillary Clinton may run for president

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has repeatedly said that she will not be running for president. Now, those denials don’t seem so certain.

Or at least that’s the impression that a recent statement from her husband gave, anyway. Former President Bill Clinton was at Georgetown Law’s second annual Ruth Bader Ginsburg Lecture in Washington when he said, “She may or may not ever run for anything, but I can’t legally run for president again.”

Clinton isn’t the only one to suggest that his wife might end up in another race. Her 2016 campaign’s communications chief Philippe Reines did as well when speaking with Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

“She ran for president because she thought she would be the best president,” Reines said. “If she still thought that now, if she thought she had the best odds of beating Donald Trump, I think she would think about it long and hard.”

“She feels entitled to do it.”

Echoing those thoughts is political strategist Dick Morris. While he at one point worked for the Clintons, Morris has since become a frequent critic.

“She wants to,” Morris told John Catsimatidis on his raido program. “She feels entitled to do it. She feels compelled to do it. She feels that God put her on the Earth to do it.” However, he noted that there would be challenges.

“In the whole issue of sexual harassment, the focus has shifted from the perpetrator – the offender – to the victim. We’re increasingly looking at the women who were victimized and the agony they went through: Weinstein’s victims. Epstein’s victims. Clinton’s victims.”

And as Morris explained, the former first lady played an active part in going after those women.

“When she had private detectives digging up dirt on the women her husband has victimized to keep them silent, that is squarely her scandal,” Morris said. “So she is scared to death that the #MeToo movement will turn on her because she has now committed a major offense.”

He also predicted that her candidacy would hinge on whether Biden dropped out.

“If he goes away, there is an opening for her – because at that point all the Democrats are going to say, ‘Oh my God, are we going to nominate Elizabeth Warren and be left with only a left-wing, crazy, George McGovern-like candidate?’ … We’re going to get clobbered.'”
