Graham changes tune on listening to information from foreign sources: ‘Talking to people is not a crime’

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

When Democrats and the media lost their minds last week over President Donald Trump’s admission to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he would consider listening to “dirt” on a political opponent offered by a foreign nation, Republican South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham initially seemed to join in the overwrought condemnation by suggesting the president’s remark had been a “mistake.”

But after just a few short days Graham was singing a different tune as he acknowledged that the president was actually in the right, as merely “talking to people is not a crime,” even if those people are from foreign countries.

Graham’s shift

Graham’s apparent about-face on the issue came during an appearance on Fox News’ Justice with Judge Jeanine on Saturday, following host Jeanine Pirro’s “Opening Statement” segment that centered on the president’s commentary and the resultant liberal media firestorm.

Near the conclusion of the opening segment, Pirro played a clip of herself from 2017 in which she said: “Now, as someone who has run for office five times, if the devil called me and said they wanted to set up a meeting to give me opposition research on my opponent, I would be on the first trolley to hell to get it. Any politician who tells you otherwise is a bald-faced liar.”

Graham joked that Pirro’s opening statement had been “informative” and confirmed that her broader point was indeed correct.

“Here’s the deal,” Graham said. “We do know that the Democratic Party hired a British agent to get dirt on Trump and this British agent I think used foreign intelligence services to come up with a bunch of garbage. I think the Russians were out to hurt everybody including Trump.”

He went on: “Who do you think this dossier came from? Do you think Steele made it up? I think he got it from the Russians. I think it was all a bunch of BS and it was used to get a warrant, and I would like for one Democrat to be outraged about that.”

“President Trump is right…”

“Here’s the point … I get talked to all of the time. I have people encourage me, ‘We hope you win,’ foreign people, ‘We’d like to help your campaign’ — you can’t take money from a non-citizen,” Graham explained. “The only thing that is wrong is if a foreign government, if they tried to give a campaign money you can’t take it, if they try to give you something of value you can’t take it. We don’t want foreign people interfering in our elections.

“But sitting down and talking with somebody is OK, people contact me all of the time,” he continued. “President Trump is right — talking to people is not a crime.”

He added: “But the president said earlier this week, that no, he wouldn’t accept something from a foreign government he thought was wrong. But you don’t call up the FBI every time somebody talks to you. You only call up the FBI when somebody is trying to do something wrong.”

Asked in conclusion whether anybody was “breaking the law” by meeting and talking with people from foreign nations, Graham replied, “No, they do it all the time.”

As the senator made clear in his support of the president, there is nothing inherently wrong or evil or treasonous with a politician choosing to meet and speak with foreign nationals, as that is something that literally occurs “all the time” among the hypocritical politicos screaming bloody murder at the president’s every utterance.

  1. I’m amazed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s equally educative and engaging, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is something which too few people are speaking intelligently about. Now i’m very happy I came across this in my search for something relating to this.

I’ve been using Movable-type on several websites for about a year and am nervous about switching to another platform. I have heard great things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into it? Any help would be really appreciated!

  13. Together with the whole thing that seems to be building inside this particular subject matter, many of your perspectives are actually rather stimulating. However, I appologize, but I can not give credence to your whole idea, all be it refreshing none the less. It seems to everyone that your comments are actually not entirely rationalized and in simple fact you are generally yourself not really thoroughly confident of the point. In any case I did appreciate reading it.

  14. The next time I read a blog, I hope that it won’t fail me just as much as this particular one. I mean, I know it was my choice to read through, but I truly thought you would probably have something interesting to talk about. All I hear is a bunch of moaning about something that you can fix if you were not too busy seeking attention.
