It has been reported that leftist billionaire George Soros has funneled millions of dollars into typically non-partisan district attorney races in order to influence elections in favor of progressive candidates.
But that effort to influence local elections hit a brick wall in San Diego County, where backlash and criticism caused Soros-funded attack ads to be inexplicably pulled from the airwaves.
Soros money invades local politics
KGTV reported that the Soros-funded Justice and Public Safety PAC had paid for televised campaign ads which attacked incumbent San Diego District Attorney Summer Stephan over a backlog of rape kits that still needed to be tested.
But Stephan and more than a hundred of her supporters rallied in opposition to the attack ads, which resulted in the ads suddenly being pulled without explanation.
“We need your help to get the word out, San Diego is not for sale!” exclaimed Stephan while she was surrounded by supporters on the steps of San Diego’s Hall of Justice.
The ads had alleged that Stephan had neglected to deal with a backlog of rape kits that required testing, but Stephan had announced in April that she had spent $1 million on an out-of-state laboratory that was testing at least 1,000 rape kits in a bid to reduce the backlog.
Genevieve Jones-Wright, who is backed by the Soros-funded PAC in a campaign to unseat Stephan, stood by the ads even as she agreed they were inaccurate. However, she believed the backlog number was higher than what was stated in the ads and hoped to see similar ads with larger numbers in the future.
“My reaction … hopefully, they make it more accurate; not hundreds of backlogged rape kits,” stated Jones-Wright. “There are thousands still sitting on our shelves, collecting dust as a result of her failed leadership.”
Widespread plot
The Washington Free Beacon reported in early May that Soros had poured $1.5 million into the San Diego DA race via the Justice and Public Safety PAC, with the obvious goal to support the progressive candidate Jones-Wright, who coincidentally was part of a panel at the Soros-hosted Democracy Alliance conference last fall.
That early May report noted that the Soros-funded PAC had already disbursed in support of Jones-Wright nearly $200,000 on TV ads, $100,000 on digital ads and more than $100,000 on campaign literature.

Sadly, San Diego is not the only location where Soros is seeking to influence local district attorney races in favor of far-left candidates, and he has already notched a few wins in other states.
Unfortunately for him, his subversive plot to meddle in the San Diego election has not gone unnoticed, and is now being called out and countered.
