Resurfaced video shows Nancy Pelosi advocating for stronger border security

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

Virtually every move President Donald Trump and his administration have made to better secure the southern border and actually address the flood of illegal aliens entering the country has been resolutely blocked by Democrats in Congress, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

But a video of Pelosi from little more than a decade ago that has recently resurfaced shows that she was once fully on board with the idea that the border must be secure and that efforts should be made to stem the flow of illegal entry into this country.

How times have changed

The video clip was taken from a news conference held in 2008 during Pelosi’s first go-round as Speaker of the House.

Pelosi’s comments from the event were posted to social media by the Independent Women’s Voice organization, and the footage shows just how far Pelosi and her party have shifted toward the left over the past ten years.

At that point in time, Democrats were largely in favor of having the kind of strong and secure borders that went hand-in-hand with an orderly flow of legal entry into the country for migrants granted proper authorization.

This stands in stark contrast to today’s Democrats, who appear wholly opposed to any sort of security at the border or any checks at all on the number of migrants coming across the border into the U.S.

“We certainly don’t want any more coming in”

“We have a couple of different issues we’re talking about,” Pelosi said in the 2008 news conference. “Do we have a commitment to secure the border? Yes.

“What are the options that are available to us? Let’s make sure they work,” she continued.

She went on: “Because while we need to address the issue of immigration and the challenge we have of undocumented people in our country, we certainly don’t want any more coming in.”

Watch below:

Leftward shift in stark relief

To be sure, that video came from a time period that predates the Democratic Party’s headlong descent into radical progressivism. While they may not have always meant it, its leaders at that point in time still at least paid lip service to the concept of American exceptionalism and the need to protect this country and its lawful citizens.

Things are quite different these days, given that the Democrats now support open borders and have all but discarded any pretense of safeguarding the rights of Americans. This is the unfortunate reality of a party that is continuing its quest to fundamentally transform the U.S. into an unattainable leftist utopia that nobody actually wants.
