Good things are happening as Americans rise up to deal with the Covid-19 crisis. At its send-off, President Trump called the USNS Comfort “a 70,000-ton message of hope and solidarity to the people of New York.”

The floating hospital will take on non-coronavirus patients to relieve the pressure on the city’s hospitals as they receive more Covid-19  patients.

According to Radio.com: “The Comfort began its life as an oil tanker but was outfitted to become a hospital ship in 1987 to carry up to 1,000 active duty wounded and ill as a result of a major combat operation. In addition to its 12 operating rooms, it is outfitted with a pharmacy, labs and oxygen making plant.”

The US Navy has also deployed a hospital ship to the West Coast. The USNS Mercy began receiving non-covid-19 patients on March 29th in the Port of Los Angeles. As of the 29th, there were 2,100 confirmed coronavirus cases in LA and 37 deaths.

According to NPR: The hospital ships’ mission ranges from supporting military operations to performing humanitarian missions and aiding Americans during national emergencies such as the one currently gripping the U.S.

FDA approves emergency use of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine

In other news, the FDA just approved the use of Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine to treat coronavirus. Yes, these are the same drugs that liberal governors and media personalities have been trying to discredit – all because President Trump held out hope for their effectiveness.

Novartis Sandoz donated 30 million doses to HHS (Health and Human Services.) This is good news for the US as we move into another week of escalating cases throughout the country.

According to Politico:

The FDA approval allows the drugs to be “donated to the Strategic National Stockpile to be distributed and prescribed by doctors to hospitalized teen and adult patients with COVID-19, as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible.”

Samaritan’s Purse builds hospital in Central Park

The Christian organization, Samaritan’s Purse, built a 68-bed temporary hospital in Central Park. They will provide everything needed in a medical crisis, including doctors and nurses.

According to their website:

Samaritan’s Purse is deploying an Emergency Field Hospital to New York City to care for coronavirus patients. We continue to operate a similar respiratory care unit in Cremona, Italy.

Samaritan’s Purse established the field hospital in Cremona, Italy on March 20th.
