Secret Service blasts ‘assassination fantasy’ published in NYT

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

The New York Times is the mouthpiece of hypocritical, agenda-driven leftists, but then again, we already knew that. Just one day prior to railing against President Donald Trump over his rhetoric after multiple prominent Democrats were targeted with mail bombs, the once-revered newspaper published a short fiction story which fantasized about the assassination of the president.

The “assassination fantasy” piece published by The Times involved U.S. Secret Service agents assisting a Russian assassin in a plot to murder Trump. In response, the real U.S. Secret Service agency has released a statement revealing how insulted they were by the insinuations of the piece.

A spokesperson for the Secret Service told Fox News, “While we understand this is a work of fiction, the insinuation that the U.S. Secret Service would participate in the assassination of a President is outrageous and an insult to the men and women of this agency.”

“The U.S. Secret Service prides itself on being an apolitical agency with a long and distinguished history of protecting our nation’s elected officials,” the spokesperson added.

“Assassination fantasy”

The short story was part of a collection of five short stories from crime and spy novelists that were tasked with envisioning “Trump’s Next Chapter.”

This particular story — “How It Ends,” by Zoë Sharp — centered on a Russian assassin sent to kill Trump as he was about to face an impeachment, ostensibly to prevent anyone from learning how Russia had helped Trump get elected.

Disguised as a porter in one of Trump’s hotels, the assassin made his move as the president walked past in the lobby, only to suffer a misfire of his Russian-made Makarov pistol.

Expecting to be gunned down instantly after his failure, the assassin instead was surprised to find one of the Secret Service agents politely handing over his Glock service pistol so the Russian assassin could finish the job.

“Abhorrent and disgraceful”

Nor was the Secret Service alone in condemning the disgusting story that fantasized about agents abandoning their oath and violating their charge to protect the president from danger.

During an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” White House press secretary Sarah Sanders decried the piece as “absolutely abhorrent and disgraceful.”

The fact that the Times would publish a story that quite literally fantasizes about the president being assassinated, and then one day later criticize that same president for his sharp rhetoric and alleged incitement to violence, only proves how depraved and hypocritical the folks at the Times truly are.

They had no business publishing such a trashy story, and the men and women of the U.S. Secret Service have every right to feel “insulted” by the insinuation that they would play a role in an assassination attempt on the man they are sworn to protect with their own lives.
