Democrats like Nancy Pelosi often insist that the thousands of illegal aliens who attempt to illicitly cross the U.S.–Mexico border every day are mostly innocent families seeking refuge — but stories like these blow that narrative right out of the water.
On Monday, a foreign national who Breitbart reported was in the country illegally was arrested for the murder of a 19-year-old South Carolina man.
Murder charges
WCIV, a local ABC News affiliate, reported Monday that police in North Charleston had arrested 40-year-old Juan Javier Reyes Perez that morning for the murder of an unnamed 19-year-old male.
Breitbart said unnamed law enforcement sources had confirmed to them that Perez was in the U.S. illegally.
His teenage victim was reportedly found lying in a roadside ditch and bleeding from a gunshot wound shortly after midnight on Sunday.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Criminal confession
An eyewitness to the shooting identified Perez, who reportedly later confessed to the crime.
The witness said the shooting came following an argument between the victim and members of his ex-girlfriend’s family.
Perez is being held without bond in the Al Cannon Detention Center on charges including murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
Deportation looms
According to Breitbart, Perez has now been placed on a detainer by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE), meaning that he will face deportation if he is ever released from local custody.
These are the people that Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats are trying to protect. While many migrants may truly be innocent men, women, and children, the federal government should be able to vet migrants to ensure that violent criminals like Perez don’t slip through the cracks.
Unfortunately, it looks like Pelosi and the Dems won’t be willing to work with President Donald Trump in that regard any time soon.
