Mike Huckabee says Sarah Sanders gubernatorial run ‘could happen’

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

When President Donald Trump announced via tweet and during an event that White House press secretary Sarah Sanders would soon be resigning from her role, he mentioned both times his apparent desire to see her run for and win the governorship of her home state of Arkansas.

With that in mind, Fox Business host Stuart Varney spoke about the possibility of that happening with a certain individual with a rather unique perspective on the topic — Mike Huckabee, who is Sanders’ father and was himself the former Republican governor of Arkansas.

“It could happen”

Varney got right down to business and asked directly, “So tell us, Dad, is your daughter going to run for governor?”

“I have no idea, and I don’t think she does either,” Huckabee replied with a laugh. “The president sort of pushed her out there, ya know, like bumping her out of the nest, or something like that.”

“But, it could happen,” he said. “I’ll tell you this, it’s the greatest job in the world, so if she does, she’ll have a great time running and if she wins.”

No forthcoming tell-all

Varney noted that Sanders’ current role as press secretary was arguably one of the “most difficult” jobs in the world, to which Huckabee replied, “She loved her job, let me tell you. It’s been hard for her to make this decision because she loved the job, loved every bit of it, and she loves the president.”

“And one thing you will not be seeing is some book that disparages this president, who she has such great respect for, because he has treated her with nothing but extraordinary respect and class,” Huckabee continued.

“She adores him and his whole family, because of the manner in which she has been treated, and I think it speaks well of him.” said the former governor.

“The people who say things about President Trump or his family, they don’t know the president like Sarah does, because she was with him probably more than anybody during the day, day in and day out, and I’ll tell you, her respect and appreciation and love for this president is profound and sincere,” Huckabee added.

Sanders raised on “brutal” politics

Varney asked if Sanders ever “broke” under the immense pressure exerted by the oppositional media, but Huckabee replied, “No. Amazingly, she is probably one of the most, I guess, unflappable people I know.

“If she were to run and win the governorship she would go back to a governor’s mansion that she basically grew up in. And there she saw how brutal politics can be. She’s seen it, she’s felt it, she’s experienced it, so it really never was a shock.”

It obviously remains to be seen what Sarah Sanders will end up doing once she has left the Trump White House, but odds are, she will find success in whatever it may be, and she will undoubtedly have the full backing of her father, the president, and a legion of supporters who will cheer her on.
