Joe Biden ends rocky debate performance with warning of ‘eight more years of Donald Trump’

Make sure to let us know what you think... we now have comments turned ON below the article!

There have been questions raised on both sides of the political aisle about former Vice President Joe Biden and his ability (or lack thereof) to successfully serve as president of the United States — and his latest debate performance didn’t help matters.

The career politician butchered one of his prepared lines in his closing statement on Wednesday, suggesting that President Donald Trump could serve “eight more years” in the White House if Democrats fail to unseat him in 2020.

“Eight more years” of Trump?

The Washington Examiner reported that the line Biden botched was one he has used to close out his speeches at many of his appearances along the campaign trail, one that serves as a sort of warning about what may be in store for the country if Trump isn’t voted out of office.

“I’ve said it many times, and I think everyone agrees with this — we’re in a battle for the soul of America,” Biden began on Wednesday. “This is the most consequential election any one of you, no matter how old or young you are, has ever, ever participated in.”

Things only went downhill from there, when the former VP seemed to forget about a little thing called “term limits.”

“Four more years of Donald Trump will go down as an aberration. Hard to overcome the damage he’s done, but we can overcome it,” Biden said. “Eight more years of Donald Trump will change America in a fundamental way. The America we know will no longer exist.” Take a look for yourself:

Oops!

Of course, per the U.S. Constitution, President Trump is limited to serving only one more four-year term in office, meaning it would be impossible — barring a Constitutional amendment or full-on dictatorial seizure of power — for Trump to serve “eight more years” in the White House.

The Examiner noted that, based on his prior speeches, Biden was likely trying to say, “Four years of Donald Trump would be an aberration in American history. Eight years will fundamentally change who we are as a nation.”

But that wasn’t Biden’s only misstatement over the course of the evening. He made several verbal stumbles throughout the debate, including mistakenly using the acronym “TTP” to refer to a trade deal known as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and bizarrely referring to New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker as the next president of the United States.

Trump remains on the road to victory

Many Americans — including some moderate Democrats and even progressive leftists — have already concluded, begrudgingly or not, that President Trump will likely win re-election in 2020 and serve a total of eight years in office.

Whether that thought was a factor in Biden’s slip of the tongue will be forever unclear — but one thing that came through crystal clear is that Biden simply isn’t as sharp and quick-witted as he once was. More slip-ups like this one will only serve to lessen his chances at earning the nomination and winning the White House.
